Connect ChatGPT in your browser to GeneFoundry

Before you begin

Add the endpoint below, then sign in in your browser when prompted.

Use a ChatGPT account with developer mode and custom MCP access. Workspace policy can restrict these controls.

Add GeneFoundry

Open ChatGPT Settings → Security and login and enable Developer mode.
Open ChatGPT Plugins, select +, and give the connection the name GeneFoundry.
Under Connection, choose the public-endpoint option and enter https://genefoundry.org/mcp. Create the connection and complete OAuth sign-in when asked.
Review the discovered tools. Start a new chat and add GeneFoundry from the tools menu, then paste an example prompt.

Apps interface and workspace access

Sign in

Complete the browser sign-in requested by your client. Return to the client to continue.

Check the connection

Start a new conversation with GeneFoundry enabled and try one of the example prompts below.
Expand the tool activity in the conversation to see the GeneFoundry calls and returned records.

A successful copy does not confirm a connection.

Troubleshooting

If your account has Apps instead of Plugins, use Settings → Apps → Advanced settings for developer mode, then Apps → Create. Enter the endpoint, choose OAuth, Scan Tools, and Create. Workspace admins can use Workspace settings → Apps.
If developer mode or creation controls are missing, check the linked access guide or ask your workspace admin.
If a follow-up needs new data, select or mention GeneFoundry again.

Hosted sign-in and upstream API keys are different requirements. If you run the router or a source integration yourself, check its repository for backend credentials and configuration.
